GAE Thru the Years
Ghost Alley Espresso has come along way from its locations origins.
You probably cant tell by quick glance, but g.a.e was attached to one of the first public mens bathroom in the northwest in Seattle circa 1908. The entire 120sqft has a wave of energy every employee, customer and by passer has felt. I'm sure the original tile still on the ground has nothing to do with that...right? It was an attendants office space for the early market employees. After they graduated to "Market Haunts" the space was up for grabs to whoever would do it justice.
Â
In 2012- having had put in the hard work the space of shambles needed- Mercedes turned the space into a fully functioning coffee shop! Roasting her own beans in the process (RIP queen anne roasting, halloween brew was the best) and using her knowledge from 2003 when Mercedes was running a ghost & sex tour biz (focusing on the indigenous, queer, feminist and haunted past of Seattle) she included similar after hours tour starting at Ghost.

Now imagine its the year 2018, Ghost Alley Espresso is now owned by Mikey B. Doing well for the space and eventually adapting to the major societal change two yeas later would bring. What once was a walk in and sit down cafe, has now been transformed into a walk up to-go coffee window. Allowing the crowded space more inventory and working room. With the hard work of ghosts past employees, managers and Mike, they managed to build a high volume quick paced coffee stop. Its 2026, Jo & Milo have been managing the day to day business with Mikey as a supportive, involved and eager owner, for the last few years. We are the must stop coffee shop in Seattle (forgettabout the first Starbucks) and we are excited to expand in the future...
